What to do about bunions?

Okay well i've just figured out that i have a bunion on my foot, im going to the doc tommrow and i got new shoes, but i cant really wear them it just hurts more :( Is there anything i can do?? How can you make it go away besides surgery (It has not gotten that bad yet......) Help Please :)
