What college basketball team should i root for?

ok this is the situation. i have been a kentucky wildcat fan my entire life but i live in western NY. i only liked kentucky because my brother got me into sports and i just followed who he liked. but ive recently started to like syracuse because they are the home town team here in my area. now would it be wrong to just switch from a kentucky fan to a syracuse fan? i really rather root for the home town team instead of just root for a team that has no significance to me
