Why is the Dutch flag red, white, and blue?

the dutch flag dates 1579, when netherland becomes independent because of wiliem van oranje. he was the person who get rid of the hispanic out of holland. by the way red, blue and white derive from the colours of the survant uniform in france. the color red was originally orange, to the name of the old french king, but was changed into red, because it was easier to recognize.
