Solvent for aromatic Grignard reagents?
I read somewhere (Morrison and Boyd) that although Grignard reagents can be prepared or used in any ether, commonly Diethyl ether, aryl magnesium chlorides in particular must be dissolved in THF and diethyl ether cannot be used for the purpose. No explanation is provided. Can you suggest one?
